Full reflux on Mollasses Washs

Postby rumby » Thu Mar 31, 2011 7:55 am

For the rum drinkers out there I am finding a mollasses run at 95 % is still giving a small sweet rum taste, I have been mixing this with essence and oak, and is starting to produce that aftertaste (you kind of get from Bundy) I am after. Slowly but surely getting there

I have found no matter what you do it's always about trying new stuff, adjusting this and that, try mixing a bottle of the queen coconut essence into a litre of it - yum...

Then there is always stuff like caramel, pepper corns, raisins, figs, pineapple, apricots then you can start to look at spices.

So much stuff you can do.

Spud, how is the bottle of mollasses rum going with the charred oak you mixed up awhile ago, have you tried it yet? It must be really dark by now.

It's not that dark really when you bring it back to 40% fairly light really. I really want to age a bit for 12 months or more, the longer it ages the better it gets. I don't have anything that has been aged over 3 months. I don't know where the hell it keeps going........... I need to put a lock on a cupboard and store it in there :D

Hi Rumby,

Just wondering if your using Macs recipe for your Rum, or do you have your own, have you tried any different recipes or just stuck with one..?

Regards

Thanks Mac, I wasn't expecting a quick reply anyway, I noticed he hasn't been around for a while.
