Hello there
Working with a 200L fermenter that I will be mashing in too. Aiming for 3L water per 1kg grain.
25kg gladfeilds distillers malt and 20kg unmalted feed barley so a 135L ish final volume for that 3L water to 1kg barley ratio.
Going to gelatinise the 20kg unmalted barley in 60L of boiling water in my 200L mash tun/fermenter, stir briskly with drill and let sit for an hour.
My question is this:
What temperature of my strike water will I need to hit a target of 65 degrees for the addition of my distillers malt (assuming grain temp of 20 - 22 degrees)?
Have been trying with brewers friend calculator but it just isn't made for an Irish whisky mash....
