My Stir Plate

Built myself a stir plate for yeast starters :D

Just a couple of magnets on a pc fan, wired up through a fan speed controller.



Drop the magnetic stir bar in the solution, align it with the magnets on the fan, and away you go... :handgestures-thumbupleft:



One of my yeast starters getting ready to pitch into 4 fermenters for vodka...

That's a great idea! Magnetic stirrers are pricy! How do u on sanitise the magnetic pill? (not so much for distilling but asking if you did beer) would a spray with a no rinse sanitizer do the trick?

I use no-rinse sanitiser, usually a hydrogen peroxide mixture...just like in beer brewing, you need to spray everything when dealing with the yeast. ie. flask, stir bar, alfoil cover...
