Gday guys, i just thought id post a few pics of a HERMS set up i have been working on. It is another build inspired by Hill, Mac, Bushy, Kimbo and anyone else who has built one pretty much...

My HERMS container is just a piece of 4" offcut i had spare, with a half inch coil approx. 5-6m.

The pump is a keg king "march" style high temp pump.

The tun is just a keggle with the top cut out and a few valves.

And the controller uses a Sestos PID.

Looks pretty flash punchy, top job on the coil too :handgestures-thumbupleft:

What size did you use to wrap the coil around ? that's pretty tight for for 1/2" to fit 4" pipe

Cheers guys...

It ran up pretty good until it overshot my set point of 66 by about a degree and a half and stayed there. After a quick change of the settings it started auto tuning and came back to set point after tuning and pretty much stayed there.

This is where i got the socket/inlet from http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281158075359 ... 1497.l2649

Yeah Mac I went to grab some 6" from Parkwood's but they wouldnt sell me a half metre length so I made do with what i had, the 1/2" flattened out a bit but she is a snug fit - for the coil i used a wine bottle wrapped in a layer of gaffa tape in case it broke :? , the pliers came in handy to open the flatened pipe up a bit so it looks a bit rough...

G'day Punchy,
Great idea for a HERMS and last night (after a chat in the pub on the weekend) I picked up a free keg so I am thinking well a HERMS has to be the go for me.

Now when I was making that reflux before I joined this forum I got some 1/2" rolled to fit inside some 3" SS. Now all I used was a spring based copper bender and a 32mm pipe for the former. It was hard going but I got there. Now off memory at that scrap yard I did see a heap of 3/8" copper pipe so some of that will on my list this week.

Cheers Bryan

G'day Bryan, if I were to do it again I would go a bigger HERMS container or a smaller tube for the coil, like the 3/8 you mentioned...
