Beverage Doctor ph Meter

Postby grasmere » Thu Aug 15, 2019 9:23 pm

I did a pH check on my tank and mains water today and came up with 8.0+ and realised that I had previously done a calculation test with the 9pH test packet. Another calculation test with the 7pH test package came closer to 7pH on the water samples, which suggests that I need to know a near pH in advance.
Would somebody please explain the reason for the 4pH, 7pH and 9pH tests.

Calibrating a PH meter with multiple buffers sets the "slope" that it reads from.

Most home brew application will see you use the 7 and 4 buffers, you probably have no need to calibrate to 10 as this is well outside the scope and will only hinder the accuracy of your meter.

And with PH meters you get what you pay for :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I just bought one too idea is calibrate it to most used ph. Then all readings will be compared to the calibrated sample...seems to be a good meter much better then the ebay yellow one. Ps dont let probe dry out :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Well as long as it reads true to the buffer after calibration thats all you can ask. For our purposes you don't need to be exact :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Thank you for the prompt replies. It would seem as though I calibrate with just the 7pH unless I know the result would be different
