Airstill vs this Super reflux still

Postby Alex_Milton » Fri Sep 20, 2019 8:08 pm

Hi,

I don't have the space to keep bigger still

&

Australian laws don't allow to keep a still larger than 5L without a permit.

I use an Airstil for now and am thinking of getting a used 5L Super Reflux Still.

Some people have modified this by packing the condensor with Copper Mesh. This is fairly easy for me to do.

Is this a good upgrade if all I want is Vodka?

As soon as you distill alcohol 5l limit is irrelevant anyway. 2" boka on a 25l t500 boiler is what you want...will supply you and one or 2 friends..

Australian law also prohibits distillation of alcohol without an appropriate license regardless of the still size.

I understand you may have space limitations but something like a 2" boka on a 25 litre boiler will serve you way better than one of those small 5 litre jobs and doesn't take up that much more room. I'm not entirely sure you can buy those still anymore anyway.

Well if I drink it then there is not proof left! At least after few hours!

Serious question:

What are the chances of being hounded by ATO or like for having a still from my online activities. Only two people will drink it.

For office people, I stopped drinking 3 years ago. I don't drink alcohol even if free in office (citing weight issues)

There will be no smell left after few hours!

Anyway, I know the law but I don't want to be caught. That still is no longer sold but can be bought used on ebay now.
