Hi guys, newbie question, I have put down my first TPW wash and was wondering if there is a specific temperature I should be aiming for?
Thanks Matt

Its a goldilocks answer, not too cold to stall it and not too hot to knock off yeast, room temp around 24 is fine, cooler if necessary. Bubbling in the wash is a sign of fermentation, if you have an air lock then it should be working.

depends on the yeast, you can look up the specs on the manufacturers site.
for bakers yeast, most people will answer anywhere between 28c - 32c.
i suppose most important is to keep the temp constant

When I do my TPW I do it in 60 litre fermeters and I pitch the yeast when the temp a tad under 30C, sprinkle in the bakers yeast yeast then for a few minutes I get my paint stirrer in to air rate the wash. Then a 5 star heat belt goes on and with my last 2 ferments it took 2 months to fully ferment out. I got the sg to 1075 using 12 kg's of inverted sugar for the wash. Then when I saw it was under 998 SG I left it for a few weeks to fully clear.

When it come to doing anything distilling related just remember just hurry up and wait :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Cheers Bryan
