Hi,

I have had this http://www.countrybrewer.com.au/product ... enser.html for a while now and I think it is stopping me from getting the best quality spirit I can get? I normally get about 86% come through this. Would I benefit from getting a new condensor?

hi ben,
if you want a good neutral, you will want to get yourself a good reflux still.
PM one of our fine members here and someone can custom build you a better than store bought one ;-)

Can I still keep the boiler and just change the condensor? Its a turbo 500 boiler.

Hi Ben just reading the posts and am not sure if you know what these fellas are telling you . Changing the condenser will do jack , you have a still head that is identical to the Super reflux still . A guy in town here has one and 85% is as good as they get ,they are simply way to short from memory they have something like 150mm of refluxing column max . you can reuse the boiler but get another still head made up shouldn't cost a fortune and if you want true neutral its what you will need to do . I'm sure thats whats being said here and thats what I'd say but I'm no expert that for certain PS you could probably detune that thing a bit and keep it as a pot still . wait up just read that fully do you mean you have that condenser on the still pictured or something else?

Yeah that's right, I have the super reflux head on a t500 boiler.

So the higher percentage alcohol I can get, the cleaner the neutral I will get? The first time I made a neutral from the homebrew turbo yeast stuff they gave me I poisoned my mates haha. Just been doing tpw and getting better results, but still feel it could be a lot better.

Then yes, you will do a lot better with a reflux column on your existing boiler (although i would upgrade that too) but that can come later ;-)
