Can some out there with a Mac4 or FSD Visualizer (I know they are mainly tailored towards the darker spirits) but is it possible to produce a decent neutral from them also without having to spend more on added plates and/or packet sections. :?

Hello NFI
It really depends on what your definition of decent neutral is. I produce what I call a nice Vodka with my 4 plated 4 inch 5star bubbler, it is not a pure neural however as there is a slight taste of the base wash. Which I like. Hence why I make it lol

Before buying my setup I was trying to get my head around packed section and plates, and was told a 500 mm packed section really strips out the flavour and it is the equivalent to approx 12 plates. That was said to give me some perspective of how much flavour is lost.

If it is absolute flavourless spirit you are chasing then I believe a packed section is your only option other than a heap of plates and a scissor lift to get to the top of your tower.

I am sure others with far more experience will be able to give you a more detailed answer mate

Thanks Wellsy.

When you do your Vodka do you do multiple runs to achieve that, would further stripping runs clean it up more if it was needed.
Also, what would be the highest ABV you can get on that system.

Cheers

I also run a 4 plate bubbler and run a tpw wash as a "neutral". As wellsy said it is not entirely flavourless but it is close with a slight sweetness which is more than suitable for purpose, limoncello. I have also done a gin which was good, the strong flavour of juniper and lemon myrtle mask any sweetness. You should be able to get 92-94% on a single run.

I do stripping runs, then a spirit run mate, this is because I do my vodka wash in a 200ltr barrel and it all won’t fit in my 50 litre boiler.
I have done a second run when I did my feints run, it still had a little taste but was even smoother. The second run did not noticeably reduce the flavour though

The abv was 88-86 for the run,

If you only have plates with 4 plates for vodka you can hit 93-94abv. Reflux longer, 1hr, then run at 2000w through hearts..flavour will persist but will be much lighter then 88. Tpw with 600mm packing even at azeo i can taste flavours beside the ethanol. It still dissapears in virtually everything and for gin is fine but i reakon i can do better.
Neutral is not my kettle fish but plan to put more effort in in near future..
