Beginners Still Upgrade

Postby Benny_Stitch » Sun Nov 14, 2021 5:23 pm

Hi guys I'm currently running an airstill.
Been experimenting with turbos, double distilling and different flavourings.

I'm on the cusp of trying out my first TPW and the plan is to have two washes/ferments running at a time in the future.

My Question is....

What would be the next level upgrade if i was to buy / build a new still?

The airstill has been a great intro to distilling but the time for me to run a wash is massive, especially when double distilling it. Looking at nearly a week solid of afternoons for spirit runs plus a weekend to strip it...

I'm still pretty green so I don't want to get in too deep and waste money on the biggest and best still out there , so what is the next logical step up for a beginner on a budget and something that I don't need a degree to operate?

Thanks Legends :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hi Benny
I started with an airstill (a very long time ago!) Yes - it takes forever.
A couple of years ago I bought a 2" boka and pot from 5 star. Much more efficent process (see my thread in reflux stills)

Cost effective and produces high quality neutral.

Happy to answer any questions you might have.

Cheers'

Lots of pics.
It is 2" boka in reflux stills. (Boris is the boka and Natasha is the pot - reference is Rocky and Bullwinkle - but you might not be old enough!)
I am not a tech whizz so I am not sure how to link the thread.

Have a look and am i sure you will find it.
Cheers

Heres the link viewtopic.php?t=12638

This is a great starter still, i had the boka and potty attachment. The 2 covered all bases - brown and white spirits.
