Sodium Carbonate in pot botanicals in basket

Hi there,
I usually add Sodium Carbonate to my low wines & used that strip run for my gin run next. But, while my still is working, I have some time to think. And wondered if it would be OK to add the Sod Carb to the alcohol in my pot and use my gin basket at the same time.
My logic says yes, as the what what happens in the pot and not in the top of the column.
I hope anyone can give me some direction?
Much appreciated
Diana

Hi there

Are you doing cuts?
Ideally with gin you would only be using hearts so that your not loosing flavors to the heads, making the SC redundant.

Yes, I always make cuts when I do a Gin run.
But, although I have removed foreshots, ect, and used SC in the strip I am busy with, I also know that using SC gives you a wider hearts range =more useful alcohol, or in my case, Gin.

If your using only hearts for the gin run, the fores/heads cut should be miniscule
You keep calling the pre gin run a strip? This implies that cuts are not being done?
What still(s) are you using?
