T500 cuts vs filter

So I’ve nearly finished my first ever run, new T500, used the Turbo yeast, 6kg sugar, fermented for 14 days (SG around .89 but I wasn’t too worried).
After about an hour after drips started I finally had a good flow (fun with tank water pump) hovering around 55C.

I decided to take 200mL cuts (after discarding first 150ish). I’m on bottle 17 now.
My question is, should I try to taste for the hearts, put together and filter, or is it worth just making up a bottle without filtering?

Keep collecting in jars and put them all aside to air with no lid, if possible for 24hrs. I have shit load of flies so i cover with paper towel.

After they have aired, when sampling start in the middle, dilute the sample spirit to 25% then taste and smell, spit it out. Move to the next jar heading towards the tails. When you hit the shite. Work your way back the other way towards the heads.

When you have the samples you like you can combine and dilute to 40%. If you then wanted to filter you can.

Awesome, thanks BigRig.

So for example, get 10mL, dilute with 15mL water? Dunno how to measure ABV other than in a vessel tall enough for the alcometer. I’m using all my old empty Bundy bottles marked for 200mL and numbered until I can get proper jars.

Also I’m really not a straight spirit drinker, pretty low tolerance to the bite haha, but I guess if I keep doing it it’ll get easier?

Forgot to mention, dont get greedy with the samples.
if you even have the slightest doubt leave it out. Adding questionable samples will only ruin the lot and it's not worth it for 200mls.

Doesn't even need to be 10ml. I take 1ml @92% and add 4ml of water. The more you dilute the more flavour will come out and the less it will burn.

Also worth a reminder not to throw out what you leave out mate, believe it or not but once you have enough of these ( called feints ) you will be able to do a feints run and still get good product.
Trust your nose and taste buds mate it will definitely get easier the more you do it

If this is the very first run through the still, you should not be drinking it at all

This is what we call the sacrifical run, it removes residues left from the manufacture of the unit

And no, its not listed in the instructions that came with it.
