Hi again folks can someone explain to me what you have to do for a strip run and how much i get out of a 21ltr wash,what i have been doing for the last 2 years is puting my 21ltr wash in my T500 still, distilling then watering down to 40% send it through my carbon filter then just add my flavour to the spirit,and does a strip run it produce a cleaner spirit . thanks marbaker

Personally, I wouldnt try using the T500 as a stripping still, the plastic cap on top will melt.
I use a 2inch pot head on my T500 boiler to do my strip runs.
And yes, I end up with a much cleaner end product.

thanks andy im thinking about making a pot head for the t500 iv seen some on this site i might try and make when i get hold of some copper,i presume there is no packing in the head,and can you tell me how much will i get out of a 21 ltr wash thanks marbaker

With the t500 I put 2 washes in ( 1 at a time ) and run the condenser at 65degrees.
I then put the 2 washes through again together watered down to below 40% and run the condenser at 55degrees.

Bit of mucking around but is worth it.

Same as you usually would, just better quality

so if i put 21ltrs of wash in my still,do a normal run i would get about 2ltrs of 92 -93% which would give me about 5lts at 40%,so if i did a strip run would i get more out then a normal run. thanks marbaker

The idea of stripping is mostly to save time. If you do 4 or 5 strip runs then fill your boiler with 40% piss and do a spirit run you will have a shit load of booze from the one spirit run. A nice by product is you now have "double distilled" alcohol as well which should be inherently cleaner

To answer you're production question. If you do careful cuts (disregarding what equipment you use) you can figure on getting about roughly close to roundabout nearly next to approximately figuring on an average of near enough to 1 litre of spirit at 40% for every kilo of sugar you put into a fermenter. ;-)

Why only 21 l what sort of wash if you add heads and tails to next wash can do a spirit run every time .Also helps to give wash time to settle and have as clear as possible.
