Envy me

I'll be doing some aging in the prize from the local pub. A nice looking 9litre keg.
I'll report back in a year or 3......

Is it charred inside? Or just plain?

There's no char smell, but hey, it was free..... At the worst it'll make a nice ornament. It's full of water at the moment, no leaks.

Somehow I don't think that the water will improve that much with aging.

I love the fancy names distilleries give to their shitty dregs.... :puke-huge:

Regardless of the name on it, fill that bastard with rum!

I'll not be filling it with anything now.
After the water test, which it failed..... I thought filling a keg was supposed to swell the timber, all it did was swell the leaks and start to split the seams.... It's not "real" wood, it's not a "prooer" keg, it's purely ornamental.

throw it on ebay and mention it doesn't hold water. Some collector will snap it up for some money

That's if the cracks Marbled mentioned haven't damaged the fancy finish :laughing-rolling:

Aging shouldn't be in finished barrels anyway as it messes with the porosity of the wood. Can't beat the real deal...
