Hi guys,

I know this has been covered before but most topics I found were fairly old. I was wondering if anyone has found any new places to buy a good 25L(if same price I might go bigger) oak barrels. First barrel will be for rum and if my experiments go well I might expand to whisky later on if I can find a good recipe

I rang them seemed like nice people, I've got them in mind when need one , thinking a 20lt French oak for white rum

Yeah he is one I have been keeping an eye on I like the brass fittings they come with and price is nice

Here is an Ozzy retailer that I've been checking out. They are the best priced vendors of barrels that I have found... happy to be proven wrong! Money is always better in my pocket than someone else's!! :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I agree Ezi. Best price and they are decent barrels. A mate of mine bought 2 a while back and was able to pick em up. I tried last brew to get some but was outta stock. Will be going there on this round though.

Yer, would love to buy one or 6!

The blessing in my life, SWMBO, is having a big "oh" birthday in July so we're sinking all spare funds into the Cruize we're taking.... going to Singapore...

So next year!

Has your mate reported back about quality of construction and the flavor imparted?

That mob has 20ltr for $330, Roll out has 25ltr for $350. That makes ROTB $2.5 a litre cheaper :-B
For my money and the hours of effort in the brewing it's more important to go with quality. I know I can trust ROTB, wouldn't hurt to have another good option if it bears out.

I have 2x 5ltr barrels 2x 10ltr barrels from that same builder.
They were a present but I have only used them once when I was very green at the art, unfortunately I overoaked the shit out of the rum. :violence-smack:

So I haven't used them since 8-}

Nothing wrong with them
His booze was / is fine. That was probably 9 months back. As for $2.50 a litre cheaper we live close so its a no brainer for us. 20min round trip from home or a 5min deviation off hiway after wk.
The Scotch recipe we use off here is dam expensive and Id have no hesitation in using these barrels at all.

I have a 15L barrel from ROTB, it's due to be emptied next month but from a sneaky taste test on xmas day it's going really well!

I have a 25L rotb which is full of whiskey at only six weeks and have to say it's going to way out perform jars and off cuts from the same place.

Guess I'm going to have to save up for a 25L barrel then haha. Anyone want to donate? :teasing-tease: probably going with rotb at the moment as I like the brass tap and bung

Charred or toasted which is more popular for rum?

Toasted French oak?

Hoping to get two 25l barrels in near future thinking of ditching the tap in favour of a bung and sample with a wine thief :-B

You can get a really nice stainless tap for 10L barrels ..shame its $75 tho.
