Turning them 1/4 turn every time it popped up seemed to make it pretty even. But I’m not sure. Had a couple drinks and that’s how it started. Thought the oven or BBQ was overkill. Smelled up the house pretty good. Dropped them into a quart sealer while hot, poured in some Marsala. Oak sucked up almost all of it.

Might have to do a serious and sober replay to see how it actually works. Outside though.

I didn’t take anymore pictures.

Does anyone grab American oak timber and either char or toast it themselves for a tasty outcome instead of buying staves?

Careful rolling your own it needs to be seasoned first at least one set seasons in full weather..

I saw a video on Still It where he toasted his own oak & did a lot of explanation about the different levels of toasting as well.
