Oak Dominos per Kg

Postby bluess57 » Wed Oct 23, 2013 4:06 pm

Someone asked how many oak dominos per Kg (in another thread, possibly one of the group buy threads), I just counted one bag of 1kg and I'll call it 45.
So depending on variances the range would be about 40-50 per kg.
Hope that helps ...

Thank you. Considering it's 1 domino per litre, thats a load of whiskey ;-)

Is everyone happy with the level of oak flavour when using 1 domino per litre ? I know everyone will be different, I have put down 12.5 litres of BKO and went by the rule of 5 grams of oak per litre of 65%. One domino weighing close to 10 grams I added 7 dominos. Good starting point, I can add more or just leave it for a long time.

Cheers

Depends on volume really. If I was doing 200L for example I would probably go 1 domino per litre until I reach 50L, then 1 per new 2 litres until 100, then 1 per 3 new litres until 200L

Everyone will do it differently
