oak staves/dominoes reuse?

Postby Timmsy » Mon Dec 22, 2014 5:56 pm

I have been using oak dominoes etc and when finished I let them dry out on a bsking tray and put them in a sealed plastic container. These were new when I purchased them and I was wandering can I reuse these? If so is there anything I need to do to them or are thay a ok ad thay are?

Cheers people

absolutely re use them, soak in sherry or port, re char whatever even after all the vannilin and tannins are extracted the oak is still a vessel for delivering everything from tartrates of red wine skin to colour a whiskey, to sherry tones for a fine sipping whiskey.

I keep a selection of staves in Port and Sherry for this very reason.
