Infusions

Postby MartinP » Fri Jun 30, 2023 2:24 pm

After my first attempt at spiced rumsky (oaked CFW made with raw sugar) was somewhat over powered with cinnamon and flavour I thought I would try something a bit more subtle this time. After oaking for a while I added 1 Tetley Cinnamon Orange Twist bag to 600ml of 60%ABV. The result after dilution has a very pleasant flavour that I will definitely be repeating
I would love to hear of anyone else's attempts along these lines.....

I have made lots of infusions with various teas.
I used Twinings Rose Lemonade Tea in a Rose Petal Gin.
I have also used it to add a Turkish Delight Flavour to a Raspberry Liqueur.

I used Red Seal Blood Orange tea to add an orange flavour to gin

The possibilities are endless.

It is worth making it as a proper tea first to check that you like the flavour that you are planning to add - (hot or cold infusion depending on the type of tea you are using).
Some of the blackberry teas can taste like Ribena ( which is fine if that is the flavour you are looking for!).

Cheers
