Are you talking essences or making proper white rum / scotch from grain?

I've done this with a big rum feints run, pulled it at 94% from the boka. Didn't taste like Bacardi, was way nicer and smoother, not sure how you'd get that horrible petrol taste into it.

This is the only essence in all the brands available that IMO tastes anything like a scotch whisky

And +3 for the mollasses wash in a reflux still for bacardi .Just make your cuts .too much heads can make it rather bitter

This just sounds like a Scotch because it's got "Mac" in front of "whisky". But it tastes nothing like a scotch. It tastes like Macwhisky and it's flamin delicious. Must be alrite because I keep makin more and more of it :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yeah I would say it is more on the American Whisky theme :handgestures-thumbupleft:

But yes it is delicious :D (and I don't usually drink bourbon)

After sum ideas for a Bacardi style rum fellas, I've done a molasses wash run thought my reflux but it still has quite a strong rum flavor to it, how could I tone this down for the missus? Redistill? Or just mix with some neutral? Any advice appreciated

hey muppet. maybe next time do less molasses to decrease the flavour a bit.
did you do cuts? through a reflux it really shouldn't have too much flavour

Yeah mate the hearts still had quite a bit of flavor, surprised me. I'm not a rum drinker myself but I still find the flavor strong. Ill cut the molasses next wash for the missus might run the 10l of stock I have again n see wat happens. Cheers for the input

for a very light flavour do a TPW using 3 kg of brown sugar to 3 of raw sugar and if that's to heavy maybe drink vodka :laughing-rolling:

If you water it down to 40% and re run it thru your T500, that should lighten it up a bit

If it had a little too much rum flavor put it on oak and try again with a fresh wash, use less molasses & more sugar and reflux the fuck out of it.... by the time you perfect that you'll have a half decent rum waiting for you :D
