Musk Stick Liqueur

Postby QLD.Andy » Sat Nov 05, 2011 6:50 pm

Just made this today and my test panel tells me I have a winner.
I used:
250gms pack of home brand musk sticks
250ml water
500ml neutral
Method:
Empty musk sticks into a bowl
Boil the water and add to musk sticks
Stir till dissolved, allow to cool
Add neutral and stir

It looks like it will take a few days to settle but this tastes real nice (if you like musk sticks)
Once settled, decant into a bottle.
TMD is charging $40 for a 375ml bottle of this same thing and it cost me $2 for the musk sticks :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

I'll have to give this a go !
Did the musk sticks completely dissolve ?
Any need to put the mixture through a coffee filter before adding to spirit ?

They completely dissolved but there is some sediment on the bottom of the jar.
I tried to put it through a filter but it wouldnt go.
So I added the booze and will let it sit for a week then decant to leave the sediment behind.
Edit to add: Mum has drunk some and likes it as it is :laughing-rolling:

I didn't think I was being a pioneer, just wanted to tell what I did as I couldnt find anything on the subject of musk sticks.
My main objectives were flavor and colour and it seems I have hit the nail for now
Stay tuned for my (or DJ's) banana trial
Lollie or lolly drinks seem to be a hit with the fairer of the species :text-lol:

i did one of these aswell as a redskin one, the tip to getting rid of the sediment is to let it sit for a week and then afew days in the fridge then filter thru cheese cloth to a different bottle....works great
