I thiiiink bt1 is referring to how you said 'drain between fractions'... To do this you'd have to be making your cuts on the fly, instead of collecting in jars and letting them air before making cuts.

I don't see how a parrot is any different to a Leibig or shotgun condenser as far as how much smearing you're going to get!

Ahh I get it.
To be honest I run a PID controller and my still just stops between fractions and then I drain.........but that's another story.

So you're making cuts based purely on temperature?

It's more like I'm making cuts by controlling the reflux therefore controlling the temperature.

It took awhile to work out the temps but it does work.

Only time i ever drain the parrot during the run is never, only time its been a problem is never cause i don't collect in pint jars or anything like that. I start with 200 ml jars so any smearing is going to be confined to one of these jars, big woop :-B

So true Crow .....but I don't even have a Parrot .I just stick a Measuring cylinder under the spout every so often If I want to know what the ABV is .Now days its more for curiosity .Unless I'm doing a strip ABV doesn't really matter to much.....guessing the time will come when thats not needed too.....Still...its good to calibrate the senses :laughing-rolling:
I also collect in 200 ml lots or less .Depends on the Spirit Run .Once I'm into hearts I might up-size for a while then go back down again until tails ,
