Flush it with water mate, it's been cleaned with about 3 or 4 runs of rum through it ;)

If you think my rum is bad you could soak it in vinegar for an hour or so, then give it a good rinse out with hot water.

G'day Folks
FYI
After assembly via way of silver soldering my parrot was all black and covered with that fucken hard laka shit that's hard to move with emery and steel wool,
I read this topic and try'd it at the recommended dose , nfg :angry-banghead: , I figured that the parrot was different kind of dirty than mine so I chucked the whole container ( 65 gram i think), nah just checked it , it was 75 g  into the 9ltr bucket and left it over night , next morning the copper was as clean as :o :o ,but dull 5 mins with steel wool and as shiny as a new pin , will be doing it all the time now with the clean up process 8-) 8-) 8-)

Cheers

Hot backset will also work. Just empty some straight from the still into a bucket, chuck your copperwork in and leave overnight.

Hey Distillers!

I need some advice if I may.

I dropped my hydrometer back into the parrot a little too hard and it smashed in the bottom of the parrot releasing glass and lead into the base of the parrot.

What recommendations are there for cleaning it out properly so it is safe to use again?

Thanks

I suspect everyone with a parrot has done this.

Just give it a good flush with some warm water, it is metal mate so the running water will remove any bits that did not tip out.

Put bit of copper or stainless scrubber in the bottom it will cushion the fall :handgestures-thumbupleft:
