Got a quote today from Plasdene as I read people were getting demijohns for $40 for 4 in an old topic. Got quoted $72.50 for 4 which makes the local HBS cheaper. Minimum buy $85 Anyone been to plasdene lately what ya pay for ya demis? Seems a bit steep might aswell go to the HBS as its alot closer at that price

I am in search for the old 1 gallon demis that have a neck wide enough to slide in the standard group by dominoes, I have two and they just fit makes things easy but the other 4 are narrow neck just a bit more hassle.

I miss Colombia! Over there i could get 4L glass jars and lids for $1 each. Glassware is so expensive here. Demis seem the most reasonable storage solution. I have about 3 spare 50l kegs so im gonna start filling them up

Have a good look around the $2 shops for big stainless pots and big glass jars, you'll be amazed at what you can find :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I've got about four 10 litre jars I got from red dot for about $60 or from crazy kongs when we were in QLD, but now I just use kegs or those 19 litre corny ? (sp) kegs beer brewers use for their kegorators :-D

Do you add a tap to your kegs or just tip them with a ball valve on the 2" opening? Be interesting to see how you fellas use your 50l kegs for aging

I tip mine upside down and make a copper fitting using a 2" reducer and tri clamp, put an elbow in it and attach a ball valve. Then on the top (once the bottom) I drill out a 2" hole and stick a wine barrel bung in it. Works for me

small axe and big hammer on a piece of timber does it for me
Splitting wood is so satisfying, especially oak as it splits true and there is no sawdust to clean up
