tjt ..try a different O-ring .
You can buy sets of these and often a slightly fatter one will help .....so will a smear of Inox grease

I did the same as you, they really leaked once they warmed up a bit.
I went back to plastic as well.

Try wrapin a few turns of thread tape in the o-ring groove ,then replace the o-ring ,I found this tightens and stops leakin fittings .my thought is on some fittings the o-ring groove is cut slightly to deep, cheers hillzabilly

Or you could try air fittings, that's what I use and have never ever lost one drop of cooling water. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

As a landscaper I have found the Holman brand of brass fittings to be fine ,some others have plastic parts inside .cheers hillzabilly

Old thread, but in my latest build I forked out for a set of Gardenia brand plastic hose fittings (the more expensive ones from the big green box).

They leaked at the O-Ring when under pressure, despite the advertisement.

Ended up wrapping the spot with 3-4 rounds of Pink Tape and then placed a Holman brand O-Ring over the top. A little more stiff to clip on, but no sign of leaking yet (One complete run done).

Someone recommended a set of various size O-rings from the plumbing section, so possibly using a slightly bigger/thicker one. Did not pursue due to finding a solution for now.

I would also rec a little saliva or water or o-ring grease on the o-rings when ever you set up the fittings this helps them ta seal properly, otherwise the o-ring can be damaged, cheers hillzabilly

I've never had a garden hose fitting that worked for very long. In the end I used controller air fittings which are much more reliable:

If you've got a beer interest then keg lube and decent O rings fix all the leaks I've ever had.

The Holman whilst looking robust in brass aren't much better imho.

These air fitting sound ok ... guess time will tell

1 2,

I don't have a leak issue but it sounds like you've been using these for a while, in which case when needed seems like a good idea to progressively change over.

btw What are they worth, do you have a brand/retailer preference?

cheers

I just ordered of Ebay and so it will be a Chinese job, but you will pay about $2 to $ 10 per elbow, from no brand to something like Festo, Norgren, or John Guest.

But I did pay for the hose that was about $5 a meter, and is thick walled so internal diameter is only 9 mm, the good thing is it stands up to the heat so the tube doesn't get floppy and sag, it stays quit rigid. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I've used SMC and Festo on the job, great stuff.

There's quite a few tube material options, you must have the nylon bt1? There's also poly which is quite a bit softer but easy when bends are required.

I've got heaps of 6mm if anyone needs any. You guys using 10mm?

12 mm outer 9 mm inner diameter, I just asked for high temp hose :handgestures-thumbupleft:
