The "Ducks Nuts"

Postby woodduck » Thu Apr 02, 2015 11:28 am

Well I've been quietly working on a project over the last couple of months and thought it's about time i shared it with you lot. I didn't do a day by day thread cause my time line was unknown (I've already got another thread open with f all in it :laughing-rolling: ) and if it didn't work i didn't want everyone to know i wasted so much time on it :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

This one is a little left field cause i know you lot like out there thinking and is unique, well as far as i know anyway. The theory was as challenging as the build (the duck was a breeze compared to this) and at times i was ready to throw the darn thing out the window and take to it with the axe 8-} . It still isn't perfect but it does work, it just needs a few more tweaks here and there.

During the build i used all types of welding, soft and hard solder aswell as copper tig. I used them strategically through the build to ensure nothing fell apart along the way. Out of all the welding technics i still prefer soft solder hands down :D my metal finishing has let me down a bit this time round but with the fear of failure looming the care factor for looks went out the window.

I will explain more as the thread and photos come along. now instead of me just wacking them all up in one big post i thought I'd spread them out and have a bit of fun by getting you lot to guess what it is that I've built and what you think i may have done differently.

First clue is; This piece of equipment is not new technology, just a different take on it.

And here's the first photo. Will it help? Not likely :))

Let the games begin.
Two of them you say.

I'm sort of seeing reflux condenser housing. . . . but no pipework in or out.
Hmmmm.
Nuh - need more input. :snooty: :snooty:
I refuse to guess. . . . . . . . . . yet. :D ;-)

Are you making copper storage or ageing vessels?

Or a small copper milk can type boiler.
