Just make sure you get one that has a suitable flow range.
The people that have the on the forum seem to find that a 2Gal/min scale gives the right resolution range.
These seem to be popular:

exactly what i had in mind... the r/c coolant circuit has a full flow bypass for 100%reflux and an aux circuit with this meter in it for the run....
all the ones i have seen are in hong kong... anyone found an aussie one?

Not much chance of that on ebay lately.
You might get lucky as a pump/irrigation shop or somewhere that sell water tanks, but more than likely they will only have higher flow rates.
But probably not a cheap item from a bricks and mortar shop.

I have a 0.5gal/min 2L/min and its the one you want. Also have a 1gal/min 4L/min. Its not as good. Both from fleabay.
By using both in series ( 2gal before 0.5gal) i found that you can exceed the 0.5gal/min on the 0.5gal unit for extra flow but it has great resolution at lower flow.
Also played with hall sensors and found them ( ones i tested) to have poor resolution at low flow.

So by hall sensors you mean the ones with the little impeller and needs to be hooked up to a screen to get the read out, yes?
I have thought about using them so im glad you got there first.
Saved me time, money and frustration.
Those flow meters seems to have gone up in price since i last looked for them.

The simple flow meter is good for a visual indication of flow through RC but is anyone using a flow switch (or pressure switch) for alarms? I cannot hear if my pump is running so would like to have an alarm rather than just watching a flow meter or worse still waiting for the vapour to come pouring out.
A PdT would be nice but there doesn't appear to be a low cost solution.

Yes
@GroggyAl.
I have a paddle switch on my Product condensor that triggers a normally open contactor block that both elements pass through.
If on gas a solenoid valve could be used in the same fashion.
No waterflow=No Element power.

I just ordered this one:
http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/221799349612It's two lpm which is about perfect for my setup. I've been using a 9 lpm model but it spends the whole time just above the bottom.
I'll need a bypass for full reflux but should give more helpful readings. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

@res I have a similar one to your link although it has a needle valve built in.
It will flow over 3 liters with adequate pressure (weight hits the top) so you probably dont need the bypass.

:laughing-rolling: That's hilarious, didn't even notice it didn't have a value. Looked just like my other one, and did seem a little cheaper. :scared-eek: No more late night ebaying. :?
I've been meaning to pressurize the loup and control the flow via output. Looks like thats moving up the priority list. :D
Cheers Meatheadinc.

This one would be nice to give both visual indication and also alarm switch which could shut down main element contractor.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LZS-15A-plastic ... 1104288185I'll use an old Pd switch I have in my junk box for the time being along with the low level switch in my 30L tank.
