steady take off low take off temp

Hey Bought a old super reflux condensor not knowing what iwas doing
Did some stripping runs no worries
Now trying to do a spirit run happy with the amount of take off , but the temp im reading is only 69 - 70 degrees
any ideas?

Hi List1, I think I've got that same condenser. I haven't used a thermometer with mine.
I imagine you are seeing a lower temperature due to the alcohol percentage of the liquid you are boiling.
i.e. your 40% low wines have a lower boiling point than say a 10% wash. Of course that changes as you distill out the alcohol.
Interested to see how you go. My first spirit run, I had a lot of trouble getting anything steady for quite a while. ABV of my cuts was all over the place and I had smeared heads through half the run.

my low wines are at 40% the heads that came off were in the 80% range
was thinking i might have over filled my boiler
ive ordered a head ext for it until afford a decent bubbler to replace the whole show
it just didnt make sense everything looks good from what ive read except the low take off temp
tempted do just shut it down until ive got the cash for a decent still
