T500 and distilling time

Postby Peteren1 » Thu Apr 04, 2024 7:10 pm

So my 3rd run with the T500 today and only my 3rd run ever.
My first two where TPW's and came out somewhat OK.
Today I distilled an oats/raisin/sugar ferment and ran it for 5 hours as slow as was practical.
I have stopped at 5 hrs as the flow was very slow even though the ABV was over 90 and it smelled OK.
Should I push it further and try to get more product?

Yes keep going and when your into the smelly stuff just keep going but turn the water down to run it faster .
You will be collecting tails , the tails stink but there is still good alcohol in there that can be collected by adding to the next boiler charge .
Known as feints , I prefer to recycle each run , some collect the feints untill they have enough to do an all feints run
