this is what's bugging me. I have a 1" hole that is such a good size that the 1" threaded poly tube that i use actually makes it's own thread marks into the drum. I put a good amount of threading tape on the tube and put a backing nut on the inside with an o ring. The bastard still wants to leak!

that tank fitting from Bunnings has a big washer (I wrap with PTFE) for under $6 it's great, a cheap $6 valve from the plumbing section and you got a bloody good drain for $12 :dance:

If you look around near the tank fitting you'll find various screen filters that screw into the inside of the fitting ;-)

Fluid is potentially migrating between the nut and threaded tap shaft. At the "O" ring the fluid is finding it's way between the "O" ring and shaft as there is no specific clamping in this area except for extrusion of the "O" ring to against the tap shaft. If the shaft is threaded under the "O" ring then fluid will be following the thread. Put the "O" ring on the outside.

You were just missing the / on the end quote. Easiest way is to hit the quote button on the post you want to quote then put your text above or below it :handgestures-thumbupleft:
