New here. in WA. Building first still

Postby haze » Tue Jan 17, 2012 10:40 pm

Hey guys. First post here. Been doing some reading on here since witnessing my friends turbo 500 still and turbo wash. I am impressed with the results.

But it looks like better, cheaper and more efficient is possible. So from what ive read here it looks like ill be building a 3" boka with a stainless steel keg and 2 electric elements and doing the TPWash. Im interested in making whisky but im content using wood chips to flavour to get started. or even just flavouring. baby steps... well besides not starting with a pot still i guess.

I currently have nothing so if any locals have anything that i will need id be very appeciative! Ill start ordering online on the weekend for the stuff i need.

Im keen to document my progress in building still but not sure which forum to start a thread.

So im a newbie. i will try and limit myself to 21254 stoopid questions.

g'day,
Mike

Welcome.

You are one of the lucky ones who found the forums before you bought a still and starter kit

Hey dude, hows it going :) im in the same boat. Just joined here, and thinking of building my own as well. Cept i havent done any welding etc since highschool which was about 13 yrs ago, so even with good instruction, im not sure if im going to stuff it up. One of my house mates builds massive heat exchanges, and the other is a sparky, so im hoping if i give them enough info, between them both, they can sort something out :) let me know how u go with your build and if u have any tips or places u came unstuck as a first timer etc...
