Found you online. Curious about getting into distilling. Looks like the right place to ask questions.

Thanks for the warm welcome! :-D I don't mind the odd drop of bourbon. Anyone having any basic recipes for noobs? Is Bourbon a good thing to start with? What do I need to get me started?
Regards...

Welcome to the forums :handgestures-thumbupleft:

For recipes I think the best place to look at is in the 'Tried & Proven' forum. These are all recipes that are popular and many people have tried.

Any recipe is good to start with I guess, it depends on what you want to drink ;-) For a bourbon, which is basically a corn whiskey aged in charred oak barrels, perhaps try a simple grain + sugar recipes (like this one) and age it in a mason jar with some charred american oak sticks/chips.

For a cheaty sort of Bourbon, this looks like an interesting experiment: Jack Daniels's Woodsmoking Chips. I have no idea if they are sold on your side of the world. I have a bag and the chips smell lovely! I have not experimented yet, should be soon. Anyway, worth a think and reportedly better results than the Essentia chips.

P.S. Do NOT try the JD charcoal pellets. :puke-huge:
