Long time AG brewer, new distiller.
I have approx. 70L of TPW ready to run in my DIY still.
50L keg with 2200w element and voltage controller.
700mm 2" stainless (600+100mm) with copper scrubbies for packing for neutrals
2" 135 deg SS elbow, 2" to 1" concentric reducer
800mm long liebig (3/4" over 1/2" copper).

Vinegar & cleaning runs tomorrow .. if time will do a 35L stripping run.

Looking forward to trying a CFW and get some bourbon on the go.

Will probably try stripping without the 600mm section.

I would definitely do a couple strips with the 600mm and scrubbies to try clean it up as much as possible, but tpw in a pot still is gonna taste funky. If anything else it will be good for the cleaning run and having a play with the kit.

Try cfw, wbab or rum with the pot still :music-deathmetal:

Welcome here. Lots of helpful people and tons of info to learn from.

Well overall a successfull day.

Ended up going a 35L stripping run without the 600mm section, took 3.5 hours and ended up with approx 6L @ 59% going down to ~30% ABV.

How can I speed up the stripping run? I ran the 2200W element at 100% the whole time.

Assuming 3.5hrs included heating ? You could try insulating the keg.
Otherwise a 2nd element or replace the 1 element with a higher wattage element.

When u are doing a flavoured wash you will want to strip down to 20% to get max flavour and get the low wines to 40% Otherwise you will be diluting to 40% with plain water for your spirit run.

Hi Yes 3.5 hrs included around an hour of heating time.

I only have a single 10A circuit in the garage so will look at insulating the boiler.

Once the second stripping run is done I should have around 12-13L of low wines for a spirit run.

Well the spirit run is done and dusted .. all up around 6.5 hours including warm up.

Using the 600mm section with 6 x copper scrubbies and going slow after what I think was the foreshots, ended up the heads starting at around 82% ABV I ran it all the way to 40%.

Haven't done cuts so unsure on final volumes .. letting it air for a day first, but ended up with about 5L collected.

** I watered down the 12L of stripped product to 30% ABV before running **

By adding another element or two, the 2nd extra one might test the limit of your liebig though

If your doing more than one stripping run, you can use the water from the cooling to preheat the next wast with a coil

Well after cuts (for first attempt so fairly conservitive) I ended up with approx 6.3L @ 40%

Pretty happy with that really.

Putting down a CFW wash tomorrow.
