6 weeks in and I've made some dumb mistakes.

Hi. I'm northy84.
6 weeks in and I'm the proud daddy of a gin made on the wrong base (it's a Christmas present), and a rum that is way too flavourful.

I'm learning by doing, but I'll keep the dumb questions to a minimum.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions as we all started with no knowledge ( some of are still not along way along the learning curve :laughing-rolling: ).

Not sure why you think you started with the wrong base for your gin. It can be any base and it is the different base that often gives that unique flavour. It is all about what you enjoy, or the person you are sharing it with.

As for your flavourful rum many on here try to get as many flavours as they can into their rums.

Don’t fall into the trap of comparing what you have made to a commercial product, just drink it for enjoyment and forget about what you should or shouldn’t call it.
