Just wanted to say a quick hi and introduce myself.

I'm from the UK but I've recently joined here as this forum seems to have some great information to absorb, some nice, very knowledgeable members to speak to and a great community.

I'm a long time home brewer and got the itch to try my hand at distilling around 2 years ago.
I joined another very well known forum, read until I was cross eyed and then started to build my still once I was sure what I wanted and had collected some parts to get going.

2 years on, I have a keg based, modular CCVM that I'm really happy with and does a great dual purpose job, and I'm in the process of putting together a small gin still to run in the house.

So that's me, looking forward to a deeper dive into the forum from this point on!

Moose

Hi Stig

I'm from South Wales, a tiny little bit just off to the left of England!

Crazy story, I went to Brizzy with work a couple of years back, and ended up in a place called Merthyr, named after a miner from South Wales who emigrated there a long time ago!
Uncanny!

Hey Bryan

I have a pretty lengthy forum thread about my keg CCVM build that I could pull all/most of my posts from and put up on here if it would help anyone with a build, but where would be the best place to post that?

Or if you think just a few pics would be best?

G'Day Moose some nice tigging work on that copper to SS :handgestures-thumbupleft:

But really in the shop $36 for 2off 4" ferrules will get a still mount and fill port :handgestures-thumbupleft: for a 50 litre keg and have a look at my thread for making BD burner out of copper :handgestures-thumbupleft: as when working with copper it is an addiction and learning on this forum can teach you all that's is needed to know :handgestures-thumbupleft:

But contained in this forum is many recipies and looking before some Southern Comfort is a new project :handgestures-thumbupleft:

For that will need to setup your gear into pot still mode so the maceration can be distilled in a pot still to get the final goodness of what you made. but I'm sure you have all that covered :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Cheers Bryan

Thanks Bryan, it's actually silver soldered to the stainless lid, I learned the trick from a guy on HD forum where you tin up the copper first, then make a spiral ring of silver solder and once the SS is prepped, just put the ring on the area, put the copper cap on top and heat gently until the solder flows, it's super easy and makes a really solid connection.
Drill through the copper and the stainless lid, leaving a bit of meat around the edges and you have a really nice clean join.
