Say Hi and introduce yourself

Hi everyone

Postby Rapier » Wed Jul 24, 2013 1:00 pm

Brand new to distilling. started thinking about it after watching 'preppers' (stupid American show) where a bloke was making bio fuel for his truck. Then saw 'Moonshiners' (another stupid American show) and thought "I recon I'll give that a go meself"
I've been spending a lot of time trawling the interwebs for info and found some good and a hell of a lot of crap. But I'm here now and after reading some of your posts feel a bit safer.
Looking forward to getting my still built.
Thanks for adding me and I'm sure I'll soon be annoying you all with the same dumb questions you've been asked a million times already.
Cheers...

Welcome mate, this is the place to be for advice and information. Can't help you with biofuel - you will end up making that if you take the Home Brew Shop advice with no worries though. :-D

Stick with the recipes here and you can't go wrong. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Welcome, don't worry if you ask the same questions as people before, keyboards have Ctrl+C for a reason. Have a read through the newbies section first though, it'll give you a good start.

Thanks for the great welcome everyone.
Sam_and_Liv asked what drinks I wanted to make. Well I was thinking probably alcoholic ones mostly, Shhhhhhhh...
Well what I really wanted to do was make more traditional type liqueurs and whiskies using mash recipes and fruits etc. rather than just distilling ethanol and adding flavouring like the guy at the 'home brew' shop suggested I do. I'm getting into it for the hobby of it rather than just to make cheep grog.

not to mention that macerations taste 1000% better then flavour in a bottle.

In that case you may want to consider a pot or bubbler rather than the valved reflux still your equipment list says if you are chasing that type of drink :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Gotcha. Just read a whole bunch more on here and came to the same conclusion myself. Came back to this post to see if anyone had seconded what I'd just figured out and low and behold...
