Hi from the Gascoyne

Say Hi and introduce yourself

Hi from the Gascoyne

Postby Matumbo » Sun Aug 04, 2013 12:23 am

Hi all thanks for having me.

After months of reading the posts on this site I am finally making my introduction.

Firstly thanks to all the contributors for their input and patience with newcomers to this hobby.

Thanks to the information learned here my first build is almost completed and ready for testing.

I went down the boka path and utilised locally available materials which consisted of 2 and a half inch stainless heavy wall pipe. I am using a 50 l keg boiler with a 4 inch tri clover ferrule for the outlet with a 2400 watt element to warm things up. On top of this I now have a 4 inch bubble plate followed by a reducer down to my 2 and a half inch column. The column is about 1200 mm in length with copper mesh packing and topped of with slant plate section in stainless. The condenser is a twin coil in quarter inch copper. The 10mm output from the slant plate flows into a short stainless water jacket plumbed for cooling water prior to the main condenser. I then have a 3/8 stainless needle valve to control output flow.

At this stage I have no idea of potential output rate or quality but hope to find out soon.

I will try to upload so photos if you are interested, any comments or constructive criticism would be appreciated.

Best regards

Matumbo
