american oak offcuts

Another oak supplier is Roll out the Barrel Cooperage in QLD

http://www.rolloutthebarrel.com.au/

Oak offcuts $5.50 per kg plus postage.

I got 6 kg with $18 postage to mid north coast nsw so for me worked out at $8.50 per kg delivered.

These guys also do various types and sizes of barrels based on their website and comments from other oz members of stillin forums.

Experimenting with toasted, charred and combo t & c of american oak sticks (cut with axe to fit into neck of 5 litre demijohn), added 2-3 sticks into 5 litres of 65 % UJSM corn whiskey for around a month... Very tasty, can't wait to see what this shine will be like if I can put it away for 6 or 12 months.... :D
