I was over at Artisan Distiller and came across the thread on element controllers, there is a link to ebay:

Just ordered one, apparently they are the go, thought there may be a few people her who could be interested in tem as well.

6 Euros for postage so under 30 Euros delivered which is cheap, may be able to get a free small heatsink from a fella I know, mine is ordered and on the way. They left feedback for me in German, buggered if I know what they said though.

if you spot any old desktop computers floating around there are often perfect size heatsinks attached to the CPU on the main board :)

also 12v fans etc in the old pc's to help cooling inside the "control box" if needed, i used a small mobile phone charger to power the fan inside mine (4v)

if you get stuck i have a few heatsinks floating around but drop by the local PC repair shop and maybe find one "out the back"....

Shall do, the wiring seems to look pretty straight forward. ;) I'll start looking for a box to mount it in.

It's down stairs on the bench not wired up (need to get wire, a box for it etc), spoke to 8 ball about it when he came over. Just had 2 weeks in Townsville, just finished 9 coils, cut a top off a keg and need to cut the other one, will tig the two together whenever. McStill has sent my plate tree so need to do something with that when it gets here, TAFE tomorrow night, my element is still fucked and needs rewiring :), ran out of gas, but have fire wood to run the still, getting fucked around by people on ebay and gumtree. Need to get a couple of stills welded and would love to go at a stainless parrot just to see what it turns out like. Oh and got some copper yesterday and was thinking of brazing up a small pot still to see how it turns out.

Also have a two year old and a pregnant wife nearly due with another one

Oh and I'ld like to run the still.............. :ugeek:

On a positive not I have quite a fair bit of rum and whiskey that has been aging for awhile now.

In short controller should be finished within the next 6 months.

Posted this morning with a parrot ;)

Be careful what end you pull it out from too, that bloody seam in SS pipe is a pain in the arse.... pour some water in there before you yank it out too, you know a bit of lube and it'll slide in and out easy :?
