All grain mash

Hi all first post,
I am looking at doing a all grain mash and would like some guidance, I would like to do around a 80lt fermentation in my boiler (100lt) then distilling when completed.
I want create a grain alcohol for Gin.Any advice would be appreciated

What grain are you looking at? Malted grain traditional mashing will work.
For Unmalted grain, for ease of use, use high temp enzymes.
If you want to use cereals corn oats then an additional cereal mash is needed. Which is You need to also gelatinize the cereal before you mash(cook it till thick porridge sometimes solid mash)Learning curve is steep and lots ways to get it done.
You will also need to control and hold mash temp if doing traditional mashing angel yeast is much more forgiving..

If you want simple use yellow label angel yeast. Its as simple as add water and grain and stir once a day.

I am looking at Malted barley, I would like to know what ratio water to grain would be a good mix, I will be using the 5 Star Bakers yeast (have used EC1118 but very slow in Sugar washes)
I have a jacketed 100lt boiler with an agitator so scorching should not be a problem , heat source is 2 x 3KW elements. This is a new set up so I want to start experimenting ( i have plenty of time )
Ideally ferment and distill in the boiler.

Look at 4 to one. Also check out saf spirit malt yeast or ale yeasts. Whiskey also benifits from a cool ferment.Ec118 not really meant for whiskey.
I mainly use barret burston ale or pilsner malt. I have had success with distillers malt also. Flavour wise
If distilling on grain you will need gas or steam. Or are you sparging?

Take a look at the 4 to 1 ratio. Look into saf spirit malt yeast or ale yeasts as well. Whiskey benefits from a cold fermentation as well.
