Platers and Gin

Howdy,

Just ran a small 27Lt wash for a Old Dog's infused Gin( recipe in Gin thread btw). Used to do this on the trusty hybrid pot. Hey it's Xmas so Gin is a must....I'm under the pump here for time...so I made do...

I first made a caddy...bloody dumb idea that....Can't fit the bastard.
New mod not finished wish I had it today ...is where the top bend finishes, where a product condenser normally easy flanges onto is to add a short botancials caddy is the go because:
All the goodies run downhill
Little chance of botancials running back into col
Less muck and cleaning of Gin residual flavours its just the product condenser that needs a tub up.

Any way as I said under the pump...emptied out the EG/Crow rock filter popped here above the reflux condenser and away!...almost.
Threw months of thinking away cos I was in a rush....What actually happened is the plater like "separated" the botanicals so I've got cuts like:
Citrus lemon, lime and orange - 2 cuts
Cinimon, Juniper - 3 cuts
Heavy cloves , Dill Cardomon ~ish - 2 cuts
It's really distinct and not what I expected.

The col ended up with plenty of shite in any case including a very dark milky mix on bottom plate that would not move through col...no idea what it was...guess I'll find out when we blend mid week for the Chrissy am Gin drinkies...

cut by taste,

I guess you might be able to get it back to full flavor with some careful blending. Should bring all the flavors back together?

howdy,

This has turned out a nice drink. It certainly lacks balls as far as OD's infused gin normally has like a heavier juniper taste towards the tails but blended up ok. Just lighter.

For plate drivers, suggest putting a botanicals caddy just prior to product condenser rather than on top of col to ensure all the nice flavour bits flow through.
