Oh yeah, prob read like a stupid question. I was meaning what part were you welding...so you're welding the whole condenser? I attempted some hard soldering on 3" condenser today, just can't get enough heat to a point...even after 10 mins in a fire brick bay

Weld the ferrule on the keg and solder the condenser. I think I can only fit 4 x 1/2" length in ... Will see once I cut the end plate. if tthat's the case I'll just make it longer

Ahh that makes more sense...

You can fit 5x 1/2" in a 2" tube...have a look at my thread. It's tight but if you measure it out with a compass scribe and space the holes evenly, she'll be beautiful :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Don't know if its any help Linny, but 1.6mm stainless electrodes are available. They aren't in every welding shop, but they are not exotic. Great for thin stuff, one step above sparklers.

I got no idea what these ones weld like, but it shows they are around. Someone local should stock them

Just with the 316 electrodes, chuck 'em in the oven at 200 deg for about 15 minutes before you use them. It dries them out and warms them up. It's a bastard trying to stick-weld stainless with cold electrodes. Can't strike an arc easily. Also, pump a bit of heat into the staino with your blowtorch before you weld it. If you keep blowing holes, turn the amps down. Your amps might be jacked up at the moment to overcome the cold electrode arcing problems.

Here's how I did the staino ferrules on the lambcannon. Keg and pipe. I used the regular 316L 2.5mm rods from Mitre 10.

Clean weld area with acetone. Tack-weld first, check for square.

Continue the weld around the entire job like a series of tack-welds. Wait until the previous tack stops glowing then start the next. Gets easier as the electrode gets hotter. Don't even bother trying to run a continuous bead with thin staino.

Slow process I know but it works well and looks a little like a TIG job when finished. When cooled, clean it all up with more acetone.

Lastly, wear safety glasses under your helmet. Staino slag likes to ping off in chunks as the weld cools. Trust me, you'll feel it. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Good luck mate.

Update : well due to being :puke-huge: ,,,, nothing has happened :handgestures-thumbdown: . Its annoying since EVERYTHING is there lol .... still just dont have the energy to finish it in one hit. Ive just been doing odd jobs , that i can rest in between. Bottled my first attempt of beer (ginger beer).... well they can stick that since it took sooo much effort :angry-banghead: .

Next weekend hopefully finish this shotgun and run 45L of UJSM.... well thats the plan anyways. 4th gen has been sitting there for about 1 1/2 months and 5th gen has been finished for about 2 weeks now.

Well 2 weeks later ,,, and finally getting over my bloody flu!!!! ... and ive managed to find motivation today aswell :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Today has been very constructive .... Finished work at 12 today,
-Went straight to the LBS to try out a SS CLASSIC Calypso - try another essence while i have 5L laying around :happy-partydance:
-Dropped into Midway steels , got a 2" EPDM seal for the crappy so called 2.5" tri clamp i got
-Then went to Eagles Plumning and picked up a 64mm-50mm coupling (reducer) for $6
-Sanded and fluxed the copper joins.... Boom! soldered first go with nice fillets , got a little run.

Thought well while things are going good ill double check the RC ,,,, 1 small leak.... Boom! reflowed the first time .

Then started sanding endplates to the shotgun , which took a while. got that right and centre punched it ... then the mrs came home ,,, figured it was time to pack up

Heres my latest efforts... so now all what is left to finish is me with my labour ,,, everything is there
