No it's in the first picture just before the RC. I've only ever had the one gate valve before the RC on all my cooling set-ups.

All good, I had trouble getting a good photo, bit overcast today and it's a bit dark in the shed.

Vinegar run done, plates look nice and clean now too :D
Sacrificial run now. Unfortunately my wash that I thought was ready to go isn't. Bloody winter. Need to turn up the aquarium heater.

Pulling 95 % (hearts) on the cleaning run :happy-partydance: temp is a bit above 20 so it'll be closer to 94 % but looks like packed section is doing its job, definite 1 to 2 % abv increase. Plates are running nicely.

Just ignore the messy soldering job. And anyone looking for a parrot design to copy, don't go for a 1/4" beak.

It's been a long time coming before I finally made a packed section, the smell of hearts is like chalk and cheese.

Glad she's running well mate, nothing wrong with 94%. This rig must be like sex on a stick compared to the 2" :laughing-rolling: .

Still got a soft spot for my old 2" though. Haven't run it for a long time. It was so reliable even without sight glasses. Just fucking slow.

db1979 wrote:I'm currently using a 12v bilge pump that I'm going to use in my boat (one day I'll install it ) and I'm running it off one of the transformers that I run my radiator fans from. The pond pump in the old photo broke but I managed to repair it.

The transformer that I was running the fans and bilge pump from started playing up - they started to not want to turn on every now and then but would always start up eventually, but now today just wouldn't start, but they would if I didn't have the bilge pump running off them. So I've now gone back to the repaired pond pump running straight off the mains. Bilge pump current draw supposed to be 3.8 A, transformers are 25 A, not sure what current draw for each radiator fan is. I've got a backup pond pump in case this one dies again but I'd rather not have to mess around with plumbing again today.

Looks like I've just blown an element too. :angry-banghead: got a couple of backups though, just can't do anything about it with a full boiler.

Element is probably still OK, but terminals are stuffed so throwing it out and replacing with a spare. All done now and boiler tested for leaks, all good. #:-s
