A quick question on the diameter of the copper bubble plates...

Have I made the plates too big? do they need to be slightly smaller? ( I bought the seals from 5 star a few years ago before I moved) and do you use one seal or two when sandwiching a plate between tees?

I've silver soldered the risers into the plates, just have to attach the caps...

Hi Scotty,

Those seals look like a full tri clover seal. You want a plate seal, the inner flat piece of rubber up to the bead
is not there on a.plate seal

Cheers

You can just use a taser blade to cut the inner lip away from a standard tri-clamp seal

Ah ok thanks ill have a go at it. I’m guessing that i need to cut the diameter of my plates down a bit to fit just inside the seal then?

A little bit of progress today....

I had to make a holding fixture to screw the copper plates to so I could resize them to fit into the seals between the tees...

Then I soaked them for 2 1/2hours in George from Barley and Hops Brewing YT channels 551 mixture (500ml water, 50ml Hydrogen Peroxide, 1 ounce (28gms) Citric acid powder).

Now they are soaking in a weak water/vinegar mix overnight.

It's to clean off the gunk from soldering.
