Have a look at bottom of first post
45L Corn Flake wash @ 10% abv

If not you need at least 8 plates to get a steady output and to be able to separate the feints.
4 plates on their own will work pretty much like pot still.

I would disagree with this.
A well designed 4 plate bubbler should hold high 80% for the entire run until tails if run properly.
As for the original question I’d say your running too fast.Sow it back to 1.5L per hour and see what it does then keep bumping it up from there :handgestures-thumbupleft:
YarraRanges wrote:With 5 plates I could not separate out the feints, I tried to go as slow as possible, even after 5 litres I could still detect the acetone in the output.
When I added 3 more plates I found I could get all the feints out in 3 litres.
I've since added another 5 plates and the 3 litres to separate the feints out has been quite consistent.
I didn't go for a packed section because of favoured pathways and the requirement to be changing the packing periodically.
With 13 or 14 plates I get a very clean neutral for making gin, lemoncello or absinthe.

The Stig wrote:I wouldn't, change too much at once and you'll never know what fixed the issue.
Just reload and run slower, even slow it down to an unbearable 1L per hour to see if your on the right track.
Just be sure you"ve got the product condenser on the right side of the column :teasing-neener:

I haven't emptied the boiler of the used wash yet, so was just gonna add the collected spirit back into the wash and try again. :D
(I can do that, right?)
