Downcomer Ideas / Plate Design

Postby MacStill » Thu Aug 02, 2012 9:41 am

I had a fellow member here the other day who brought the beginning of a plate tree around for me to look at, I was very impressed with his out of the box type thinking & thought I'd post the pic for you all to see.

Take a look and let us know what you think.

... one thing I really like is the fact it's all held together with no solder or brazing required :handgestures-thumbupleft:

That is cool!
Can you share the thought process behind the design please?

I hope he chimes in when he sees the post to give you that info, but I think it's because no solder needed and ease of build with very basic tools & he just wanted to be different.

After talking with Mac the other day & now understanding the process a bit better.
You should see my latest version i've put six evenly spaced pieces of 6mm copper tube into the cap at the bottom of the down comer, to evenly distribute the product out to the inside of the column. The cap itself looks like a copper spider. :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft:
Sorry no pics im computer illiterate.
