Perforated & bubble cap plated columns

Xmas Still build, community effort.

Postby MacStill » Sat Dec 08, 2012 9:15 pm

I am thinking we could all get together and build a still to give away as a xmas present to someone, I'm not sure how it could happen but my thoughts are.

So, if a few members here handy with still building could get together and build a component of a bubbler each we could give a less fortunate member a still for xmas

The gift would go to a member after being voted by a poll.

I'll build a couple of shotgun condensers with easy flanges, 1 product condenser and 1 reflux condenser & other builders here could chip in to complete a bubbler.

I would like to see a member who has been here for a while that doesnt have the skill set to build a bubbler ultimately end up with a bubbler built by members of this forum, I'm sure most of us with building experience can contribute in some way.

So lets discuss our options & preferences to get this underway, and how we can help out a member less fortunate than the majority.

Everyone's input is welcome on how this should happen & who ends up with it.

Over to you lot :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I'll chuck in 5 x 2" sight glass ferrules with backing rings, notched to suit a 4" column.

Assuming it goes as you say mac, sounds like a good idea.

Well, crow's got the parrot covered, so I cant do that.

Good move Mac,

Reality is your build quality exceeds most here so best we focus on parts supply or donation I guess.

I'm in.

Sorry guys I was trying to imply I would supply a couple of condensers, others can supply bits to complete the still and maybe a member here could stick it together.

Currently I'm struggling to keep up with demand and dont really have time to build a complete freebie, that would certainly be unfair to my paying customers that are waiting.

I reckon with the spirit here we can pull it off :handgestures-thumbupleft:

O.k boys & girls, I am building a new still & my current bubbler needs a new home & Mac has decided to accept
it as the xmas still & will be supplying some some sight glasses & other bits :handgestures-thumbupleft:
The lucky recipient will be asked to make a donation to the Salvos.
Over to you Mac.
