Perforated & bubble cap plated columns

caddy ideas needed

Postby bt1 » Sun Dec 23, 2012 8:39 am

Howdy,

Wanting to make a workable botanicals caddy for gins mainly.

The issue I have is how to spread the botanicals along the length and width of a 2" tube evenly, without forming a "plug" stopping vapour path. It needs to be edge to edge to force vapour through the botanicals, not overly thick as to block vapour.

Was thinking of a mini perf plate tree put it part way in to tube add botanicals and repeat for 3 or 4 plates. Removable for waste disposal.

Or simply pack botanicals into a stretched out scrubby or 2 then throw when done.

Any other ideas?

Mini plate tree might be the go. You'd only need one disc to be a good fit, the rest could be pretty slack, just for ease of making. Maybe make the holes very large so it dosn't start working like a plated column.

I just hang a cotton bag of botanicals in the neck of the boiler, it does not impede vapor flow and produces a good result.
