Well done mate :handgestures-thumbupleft:

What did you finally decide on the polished finish?

For the time being just keep polishing till the novelty wears off :))

tied the search button with no luck

Hiya Aussie, your build looks very impressive!!
I can't wait to see it finished, and maybe share a run with you :D
I have just insulated my boiler with some nice Australian thermal, reflective stuff lol.. I bought at Brewmaster by the meter... Quite expensive at $20.00 per meter, it knocked 15min of my heat up time, now at 45min 48L charge, full reflux, Boiler at 91.2Deg C 1350W x 2 . It now requires less wattage to keep the temp stable!
I made a double thickness

Next to no heat getting through!
Keep up the great work!

Heres how the day panned out filled the boiler and power on at 8=45 am 2 =2500 watt elements full bore
Boiling at 9=35 then turned off one element and turned the other down to 100 volts to reflux till 10 am then cut the reflux water back to temp off 42 deg started pulling off at 89 % cranked up the elements one full bore the other at 100 volts it stayed at that till the alcometer started to rise then both elements full bore and reflux cooling off got another 2 litres [to back in the next run ]
So all in all 6 litres of top product at 89 % and probley 3 to 4 litres of frets

Now for my next run I was thinking of trying the 500 mm packed section As per yummys question
Would there be an advantage of putting it between the 4th and 5th plate or just straight on top of the 5th plate
