The vague bit was because I was late for work.

I get bored easily... so decided to make something new.
But this time most of the welds would be hard soldered.
The easy flanges would be finished with soft solder.

So I started on an inline thumper

You may remember the thumper to be in the background.

Now will be repurposed as a rock section.
Notice the towball used for shaping the module.

So I cut up some 3" to use as plates
And made a 4" reducer for the RC.....
Still not sure if the 4" will handle what is thrown at it... we'll see in time I guess.

Damn.... and I was going for two in a row. :teasing-tease: :teasing-tease:
That is if Snapperhead doesn't finish his any time soon.

So the rock section is now ready.

I still have a little bit of pipe.
Went to see my mate at the scrap yard a couple of days ago and came home with these.

Pipe collection.JPG

It looks a lot but each piece is about 1200mm long.
:D :D :D

Still plenty to do ... just not tonight.

Got a bit done over the weekend.
Cut up the pipe, made some plates and soldered in the risers.

This should be a fast build as I am on annual leave.

Thanks Andy

I spoke too soon about this being a quick build.
Got a visit the other day and now have three days trade work ahead of me. :angry-banghead:
I'm supposed to be on holidays... 8-} 8-}

Anyway
Was wondering how I could hold each module so it could be drilled for the sight glass holes.
Came up with this.

Should do the job just fine.
Glad I play around with a bit of cabinetmaking on occasions as well.
:D
Will try and sneak some work on the build in somewhere.

Still got a bit done today.
Made a stencil for cutting the slots in the bubble cap using Corel Draw.
Glued them on ready for cutting.

Then spent ages cutting the caps up.
Finished the night with one hole for the sight glasses cut as well.

Progressing slowly, we will get there.

Great build man. Nice work! Love all the pics! Cutting slots in your caps is tedious hey!! I'm up to that part on Bender the Bubbler but go into hospital Thursday for the day so no building for me!

Keep up the great work & I can't wait to see your next steps!

Thanks Milky.

It's marvellous how much work you do and it seems like nothing has been accomplished

Almost seems like there is less there than in the last photo

modules holes cut.JPG

Hammered the flanges out.
Soldered all the easy flanges.
Trimmed the flanges and then cut the holes for the sight glasses.

Notice how far down the downcomer sits?
I'm too lazy to look up, in the sight glass. :teasing-neener: :D

Because I hammered the edge out on the modules I can flatten the easy flanges.
Otherwise I wouldn't have enough thickness in the flanges for them to tighten up properly.

Modules up close.JPG

70mm gap between the first downcomer top and 2nd downcomer bottom.

And plenty of room left in the tri clamp for tightening even more.
